Dark side of the moors

I'm just back from what was, remarkably, a winning cricket tour to Yorkshire for SLAC CC. We had one easy win near Harrogate on a pitch that resembled a ploughed field (it had only been cut the day before after three weeks of rain), one hiding against a fine side at the picturesque Masham ground by the Theakston's brewery (Masham generously made a match of it but were always in control) and then a one-run victory as the climax! Spex Murdoch pulled out a triple-wicket maiden in the last over of the match versus a young Thirsk XI!

Harrogate was lively enough, especially Wetherspoons and Bar Med but the clubs aren't worth the money. The Majestic Hotel certainly lived up to its name however! Thanks to Colin Arnot for striking us a great deal to stay there. But why did Ian end up rolling along (and off) a snooker table late one evening? And why did the thought of Australian team mate Bryan Tope dressed in a shabby tiger outfit reduce him to floods of hysterical tears? The stupidity of cricket tour banter should never be underestimated!
